Dreaming With A Broken Heart

"Dreaming With A Broken Heart" is a song that was written by John Mayer. John Mayer may be one of my all time favorite artists because his songs have such deep meaning to them and they are all so catchy. Also he has such a unique voice and he is very attractive so that helps him a lot too! This song is about a man who had his heart broken and he talks about how hard it is when you are dreaming with your heart broken and you wake up and the sadness of realizing it was only a dream. He says he wakes up and wonders was she really here? Will she wake up by his side? But then he realizes no, because she is gone. This song can relate to a lot of people out there not only guys but girls too. This is not the only song of his that people could relate to; all of his songs are very relatable and very good.

Thinking of You

Thinking of you is a song that was written by Katy Perry. I went to the Katy Perry concert in June and ever since i have been in love with her music. Yes it is very different and some songs are just weird but she is a great singer, performer, and her lyrics are flow really nicely and are very creative. Now i know she has some very up beat and wild songs but "Thinking of You" is a slow and serious song, very different from all of the others. This song is pretty self explanatory. It is about a girl who is thinking about another boy all the time and when she is with her new boy all she can think about is her old one. She says that "When I’m with him i am thinking of you, thinking if you, what you would do if you were the one who was spending the night, oh i wish that i was looking into your eyes." and a lot of what she says is about what she would do and what he would do if only they were still together. Everything she does with her new boy is nothing to her because she only thinks about her old boy and wishes is were him. The tune of the song and the tone are so great that it is just very catchy and one of my favorites.

The Story of Us

Taylor Swift is another one of my favorite artists. Her songs are all so catchy and the stories behind all of them are pretty entertaining. Her song, The story of us, is one of my favorites by her. This song talks about how there was a guy and a girl and how they use to be together but now they aren't and it is just like a big battle between them. It says how they were the perfect couple that everyone was jealous of and with a little miscommunication things went wrong and now there are so many things she wants to say but she can't. My two favorite parts of the song are

"I'd tell you i miss you but i don't know how, I've never heard silence quite this loud"
and  "This is looking like a contest, of who can act like they care less. But i liked it better when you were on my side."

Those are my two favorite parts because i thought they were clever lines and very well put. This song is one that many people can relate to and it is just such a good song! Check it out!

Tattoos on This Town

This song is a song sung by Jason Aldean who is one of my favorite country artists. I really like this song because it talks about their old life and how they had an effect on the town and how it had one on them. It says that they left their marks there like tattoos on the town. I think that is a really cool way of putting it because tattoos are permanent and leave memories forever just like their life and the stuff they did. The things they did were permanent and are always going to be in that town and in their hearts. Not only does the song have an awesome meaning it has a really catchy tune. It is one of my top three favorites written by Jason Aldean.

Like My Mother Does

Like My Mother Does is a song sung by Lauren Alaina. This is a country song and it has a great story line to it. This is about a girl who does things, says things, looks, and acts just like her mother does. It says how when she looks at her mother she knows that she wants to be just like that and everything she does she wants to do it just the way that her mother does. She says how her mom gave her strength the be a better person and the person that she is today and that whenever she doesn't feel pretty or she is feeling weak she just looks at herself the way her mother does and everything is better again. This is a song that any mother would like because it has meaning and it is something every mother would want their daughter to say about them.

Waiting on the World to Change

Waiting on the World to change is another one of my favorite John Mayer songs. This song is about a guy and his friends and him who are watching the world and their surroundings and they say that they are all misunderstood. He says how everyone always tells them they will never understand and how they don't have the means to rise above and beat it. So he says that they keep on waiting for the world to change. This song is something that I feel that a lot of people could relate to because so many people say that they are confused on life and where they are and that they are just waiting for the world to change or something in their life to change. This song is one of my favorites and it has such a cool meaning and it is a very catchy song as well.

Nothing

The script recently came out with a new song called "Nothing". This song is about a man who got dumped by his girlfriend and he talks about how he is still in love with her. His friends tell him that he is better off without her but he doesn't want to listen, he doesn't believe it, and he just wants her back. He says that if he got a chance to talk to her that he would just say the three words everyone wants to hear and that she would come back to him but then when he goes to say something all that comes out of his mouth is nothing. I feel that most people can relate to this song at some point in their life and it is definitely very well written. I love the beat and I think it is very catchy :)

Stop This Train

My favorite artist of all times is John Mayer. John has some of the catchiest and meaningful songs and his tune is amazing! Stop this train is probably in my top three favorites of his. This song is not about love or school or friends, it is about growing up and facing the real world. What he means by train is your life, the quick motion that your life is moving in. He says that he is scared of getting older, because he is only good at being young. He says that he does not want to see his parents go and he is one generation away from fighting life out own his own. He says he wants someone to stop the train because he wants to go back home again which means to his normal life where things didn't change. He says that he can't take the speed it is moving and that he wants to stay there or get off the train because he is scared of change and does not want any. I love this song and i feel that a lot of people can relate to it because i know personally i am not a big fan of change and i get nervous thinking about the future and i feel like a lot of people feel the same. But he knows that in the end it will be okay and that is something that a lot of people have to remember.

Easy

             Easy is a song that is sung by Rascal Flatts and Natasha Bedingfield. This is also a country song and it is also one of my favorites at the moment. This song is about a couple that broke up and is having a hard time being okay with it. The song is first sung from the boys perspective saying that it's easy to go out, see the girl smile, laugh, and hang out with friends but what the girl doesn't know is that it is so hard for the boy to make going out and being okay look so easy. Then it is sung from the girl’s perspective and she says the same exact thing. She says that she can go out, have fun, but in the end she is hurting and that it is hard and it is hard to make being okay look so easy. This song is so cute and so true because most couples have troubles when it comes to break ups and seeing the other person out and about having fun. A lot of people can relate to this song as well. Rascal Flatts are one of my favorite bands and their songs all have amazing meanings.

Amen

Amen is a country song written by Eden's Edge. This is one of my favorite songs right now because it is super catchy and i love the message of it. The song is about a boy named Jimmy who was in a horrible relationship. He was dating this blonde who had him wrapped around her finger and one day out of no where she left him for another boy in Illinois. The boy was upset about it but then he realized that she wasn't worth it and so that is what the chorus is then about. The chorus goes like this:

You finally saw what she was doing to ya

Glad to see you saw the light.
Whole town yeah we hooped and hollered

            Then it talks about how no one could have said anything to him about her because no one wanted to be mean and ruin their relationship. Then it says how he had his head so high in the clouds but now he is finally down and he can see the light. The girl who is narrating the song then goes on to say that now that his ex is gone and he is right in front of her, she thinks she loves him.
            I love this song because like i said it is very catchy and the message is a fun and totally typical one.

God Gave Me You

This song is about a guy who is going through a really tough time and he talks about the struggles he is going through. He says that he has done things that he didn't want to do and that he was being a person that he didn't want to be. He says "But you stay here right beside me watching as the storm goes through and I need you". This song talks about how he is messing up and how God gave him this girl to help him get through and how he is so happy to have her in his life. He says that she is a gift from God and that she is going to help him get through. This song has a good message to people who are having a tough time and find someone that will help them get through their tough times.

I've Been Watching You

I've been watching you by Rodney Atkins is one of my favorite songs and I feel that it has an awesome message. The song is about a dad and his son and how whatever the dad does his song follows and does the same thing. Part of the song says:

I love these lyrics because they show people that no matter what they do or where they are someone is watching them. They are influencing people everywhere they go and especially with little kids. Little kids look up to elder’s sooo much, and especially when they are your own kids too. This is a good reminder to everyone because we need to start being aware of that and watch what we do and say because people are watching and they want to be like us and do what we do. But do you really want them to do something wrong? Mostly everyone would say no. This is a really good song and a really cool message that I think most people need to be reminded of now and then.

Who says

Are you comfortable in your own skin? I know a lot of people are but yet there are many who are not. Selena Gomez wrote a song called "Who Says" that explains that sometimes people might judge but that she doesn't care and she wouldn't want to be anyone else. She starts off by saying "You made me insecure, to me I wasn't good enough, but who are you to judge, when you're a diamond in the rough. I'm sure you've got some things, you'd like to change about yourself, but when it comes to me, I wouldn’t wanna be anybody else. I think this song has a great message because it is telling us that no matter what other people may say or do you can't let it affect or change you because you are who you are and that should be good enough. Then the chorus of her song goes "Who says, who says you're not perfect, who says you're not worth it, who says you're the only one who's hurting, trust me that's the price of beauty, who says you're not pretty, who says you're not beautiful, who says?" Selena is making the point that no one has the right to tell you that you are not pretty and not worth it because you are! Everyone is their own person and made just to be them and that is a message that a lot of people forget. This song has a great message and I think it is definitely one that high shcool girls need to remember too.

Someone Like You

So the past two blogs i have written have been about country love songs but this song is a little different. The past two songs have had the message, that no matter what happens the boy and the girl can get through it because they have such a strong love. They said that they have a great thing and that they love each other so much that the ups and downs don't matter. Well this song is the opposite from those two. The song "Someone Like You" by Adele is about a girl who is saying never mind about you i can find someone else. She says that she had hoped that by the boy seeing her face he would have been reminded of her and that things would change and then she realizes that they aren't going to so she says "Never mind I’ll find someone like you". Also she says that she wishes the best for him and not to forget her but she remembered that he once said "Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead" which is a good message to have as well. The past two songs i have blogged about have said don't worry love will last but this song is telling you that sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't and it will hurt. She says that it is hard and bittersweet but she just keeps saying never mind I’ll find someone like you so even though she is hurting she is positive and says that she will move on and she will find someone else. When people have bad break ups they think it is the end of the world but what Adele is saying here is that no matter what happens she can find another boy and that even though it hurts she will be okay.

When You Got A Good Thing

As i said in my last blog i am a fan of country music and one of my favorite groups is Lady Antebellum. As i was listening to their songs one in particular stood out to me, and it is called "When You Got a Good Thing". This is another love song and it is about how lucky this guy is to have the girl he has and how he should realize that he is super lucky and that he should hold on tight and not let her go. It talks about how the boy can't believe he found such an amazing girl and even though they will go through ups and downs in their relationship that they just have to hold on and realize that they have a good thing going and that they can't let it go. It says how they bring out the best in each other and that they need each other more than air and life and that even though it is not always easy and although they might not always get along that they are meant for each other and that they can't forget that. This is another good country love song because it is not too sappy and it has a good story and message behind it. You might not always be able to look past the ups and downs in a relationship but when you know you have the right person you HAVE to be able to look past the ups and downs and realize what you have and that you need to hold on tight just like the song says. You have to realize and take advantage when you got a good thing going for you.

Crazy Girl

When it comes to country music it is either a hit or miss with people. Either they love country music or they hate it with the burning passion. Personally I love country music! Most people stereotype country music with tractors and alcohol but that is not always what country music is about. If you actually take the time and listen to the lyrics there is always a story and meaning behind each country song. One of my favorite songs that I feel has a cute meaning is Crazy Girl by Eli Young Band. This song is about a guy and a girl who are having a fight and the boy is trying to talk to the girl and tell her that it is okay. He says in the song that they are going to do what lovers do, they are going to fight like lovers fight, but it doesn't matter because he loves her like crazy. He says that without this girl in his life he would fade away and that the smartest thing he ever did was make her his. This song is a very happy emotional song and it shows you the true love of two people. It shows you that not all relationships are perfect but that the power of their love is what helps them get through the little speed bumps along the road. This song is very meaning full to some people and it helps a lot of people realize that even if you and your significant other are in a fight or struggling that in the end they love you like crazy and that being with you was one of the best decisions of their life. Not all country songs are about alcohol and tractors but they are much more than that. They all have very significant meanings and can help a lot of people with their own lives.

Hi! My name is Kate Witten. I am a senior at Franklin Regional High School. I am involved in many clubs and groups at my school and I also play basketball for the girl’s varsity team. I am involved in the caring team, schools for school, and FCA (fellowship of Christian athletes). I love playing basketball and other sports and also watching sports. I love to hang out with my family and friends and spend a lot of time with them. When I am not with them I am typically at work or babysitting. I work at Panera Bread and I babysit for a family at my church. I also love to ski, bake, swim, bike, talk, drive, travel, sleep, watch TV and movies, and have fun. Also I am very involved in my church and with youth groups that we have there. I am involved with the high school youth group and mission trips but I also help out with the junior high youth group as a leader and I attend their trips as a leader too. Growing up I played soccer, volleyball, and basketball in organized leagues but I liked to play other sports for the fun of it. The reason I got involved in sports was because of my friends and family. I have a mom, dad, brother, sister, and a dog. I am an A student in school and I hope to be very successful someday and go to college then get a real job and make a lot of money. One of my all time favorite things to do is listen to music. I listen to music almost any chance I get to. If I am at home, 75% of the time I have music playing and in school I listen to my iPod any time we have free time or in study halls. I love music and I would go crazy if I wasn't able to listen to it. Listening to songs and actually hearing them and their lyrics and figuring out the meaning is always very interesting and fun to me. The reason I mention that is because that is what I am going to be blogging about. I am going to be picking different songs that I have listened to and talk about their lyrics and what I think about the songs themselves.
